An eventful trip

I didn’t think there would be anything to report on the flight down.  Boring it is just not news.

However, we began our in-route “flexibility” class before we even left the ground.

We were picked up by Carole Lee Randall right on time.  Suzanne and Jeff Pope and Anne Williamson were there to see us off.  It was a great start.  There was very little traffic on 494.  Everyone was at the airport on time.  The baggage check-in went on without a hitch.  Getting on the plane went well and the take off was right on time.

Then the take off was aborted; mid-takeoff.  Brakes were applied and we finally came to a screeching stop before the end of the runway.  Seems the generator on our right wing went out.  Didn’t know we had one but we did and it went out.  We then went back to the gate and took on a maintenance crew.  They fixed the problem but then we had to wait for the flight crew to do their paper work before we could try to take off again.

While this whole episode has not been life threatening however, it does threaten our making our connection to Peru in Atlanta.  I hope they wait for us.  The last thing we want to do is to get our 32+ duffel bags back, each one weights 49.5lbs.  I’d rather have the airlines lose them than to get them back.

We made the Atlanta connection without imitating OJ Simpson.  We  Then the pilot got out of line and eventually went back to the gate.  After a bit the maintenance crew fixed the heater for the deicer or something like that and then we waited while the pilot did the paperwork again.  Both times the paper work took longer than the repair.
got on the plane ok, taxied out onto the runway, and made it to #2 for take off.

Just a few bags

Landed in Lima 1½ hours late, got the bags loaded onto the back seats of the bus, and drove and hour to the hotel.  Check-in was very orderly given we had 40 people doing it at the same time with other people sleeping in their rooms.  It is now 4:40am and we are ready for a three hour sleep and a big day tomorrow.
